Description
This one was very aromatic from the word go. We found redcurrants, dark chocolate, sultanas, dried mango, tobacco, leather and a sprinkling of black pepper. Warm, thick, rich and velvety smooth on the neat palate, it was like lamb loin with a dark chocolate port sauce – delicious! After the addition of a drop of water we discovered a bowl full of roasted mixed nuts next to stewed apples, rosemary and thyme sausages, and maple syrup. To taste, we found a dark berry compote, hot vanilla sauce and a glass of Lemberger, also known as Blaufränkisch, wine. Following 11 years in an ex-bourbon hogshead, we transferred this whisky into a first fill ex-bodega PX barrique.
