Description
As coal was heaped into the firebox, wisps of steam began to rise from the tar-coated old brass funnel. The pineapple, already prepped and chopped, was soaked in antiseptic ointment, while the blender’s blades whirred to life with a whistle. In went dark berries, cinnamon sticks, nutmeg and cocoa powder, plus a little aniseed and muscle rub. A splash of water infused the mix with the briny scent of sea air and the zesty notes of limes, green apples and lemon sherbet. To complete the concoction, a handful of coriander and fennel seeds, fresh mint leaves, delicate lavender and a hint of tobacco were added, creating a symphony of delicious layers.
